What Sympathy Gift Options Are Offered in The Store?

When your funeral home or crematory location(s) sign up for Gather's case management, website, or livestreaming solutions, you unlock access to enable an integrated Remember Store on your obituary pages created in Gather (also known as Remember Pages, example linked here).

This integrated Remember Store allows your business to provide families and friends with a meaningful way to express sympathy and honor their loved ones on their obituary pages — while also preventing additional work from being added to your workday. There are 3 primary sympathy gift selections to choose from in the Remember Store today:

  • Sympathy Flowers

  • Memorial Trees

How Does The Remember Store Benefit My Business?

In addition to offering more value to every family you serve, there are a few more benefits to enabling the Remember Store for your Gather account:

  1. Cost Savings: by enabling all Remember Store gift options, funeral home and crematory customers are generally able to lower their monthly Gather subscription rates.

  2. Additional Revenue Opportunities: funeral homes and crematories who enable Gather's Remember Store earn additional revenue, which can help subsidize (and sometimes cover) the cost of their Gather subscription:

    1. Commission on Monthly Flower Orders: Gather customers earn 15% commission on monthly flower orders.

    2. Commission on Monthly Memorial Tree Orders: Gather customers earn 15% commission on monthly memorial tree orders.

  3. Provide a Boost For Local Florist Partners: funeral homes and crematories who work with local preferred florist partners can encourage their floral partners to join the flower order network to receive orders. Sympathy flower orders serve as a great opportunity for your local floral partners to boost their reputation in your community and unlock additional revenue stream opportunities for their business.

How Do Sympathy Flower Orders Work?

The Remember Store includes a link to a flower store, where families can select and send sympathy bouquets, wreaths, and plants directly from the Remember Page — no third-party redirect required. Gather partners with Teleflora, the largest and most reputable florist network partner in the United States, to offer the integrated flower store as an option on the Remember Store.

A) How Local Florists Can Sign Up to Receive Orders

In order to receive sympathy flower orders from Remember Pages, your local florists must join Teleflora's florist network. If your florists have additional questions about joining Teleflora's network, we recommend that your florists contact Teleflora directly.

Important Note: This is a standard flower store, so the flower store selection and prices cannot be customized on an item-by-item basis or a florist-by-florist basis.

B) How Families Order Sympathy Flowers on Remember Pages

Families, friends, and visitors can navigate directly to the flower store from their loved one's Remember Page. All sympathy flower arrangement orders are fulfilled by a local florist near the delivery address, offer same-day arrival, offer guaranteed hand delivery, and can be public or anonymous.

Once at the flower store, contributors can select a flower product from several different categories, including Table Arrangements, Baskets, Sprays, Plants, Inside Caskets, Wreaths, Hearts, Crosses, Casket Sprays, and Urn Arrangements.

Once a category is selected, visitors can review sympathy flower options and select an arrangement to order. Each product offering will include a description, dimensions, and a photo.

Once a selection is made, the contributor will be prompted to select where they'd like the flower arrangement to be delivered: to a specific event location, directly to the funeral home, or select a different receipient.

Pro Tip: Remember Page visitors are not able to send flowers to an event that has already happened -- they will receive a prompt or message that notifies them that they're unable to send flowers because the scheduled event has already concluded

If they are sending flowers for an upcoming service or directly to the funeral home, they would select either of those options and then select dates, verify the info is correct for the location, and include a message for the card. The last step will prompt them to enter their card details for the payment and allow them to finalize the purchase.

If they are choosing to send the flowers directly to a family member, they will fill out the sender detail info, select the date, include a personal message and any special instructions, and then confirm the purchase with the payment as well.

That's it! The order will be processed and delivered as quickly as possible. The order will also be reflected in your Remember Page reports in Gather Analytics, a confirmation email will be sent to the local florist who received the order, and a confirmation email will be sent to your team for any flower arrangements that are scheduled to be delivered directly to your funeral home location(s).

Additionally, a contribution card is added to the loved one's Remember Page, and the family receives an order confirmation email (as well as a delivery email).

C) How Orders Are Routed and Fulfilled By Local Florists

Each flower order will be routed to a local, in-network florist based on several criteria points, including:

  • If a florist is set up in-network to receive orders for your location(s).

  • If a florist has included or excluded specific zip codes that they service.

  • If a florist has set a price threshold for acceptable flower orders.

  • If you have multiple preferred local florists in-network and set up to receive orders, you can request order routing via round robin rotation or sequentially.

Important Note: If none of your local preferred florists join the flower store network or accept a flower order from a Remember Page, the order will be routed to one of Teleflora's other local florists already in-network.

Once a flower order is placed, the florist selected by Teleflora's system receives a notification to fulfill it. The florist is responsible for delivering the order, and they will receive a 73% commission from Teleflora on each flower order they accept.

Important Note: Orders can be canceled or rejected if needed. The purchaser will be contacted as soon as possible via email and the order will be refunded to the customer.

How Do Memorial Tree Orders Work?

Through our partnership with Arbor Day Foundation, a non-profit with a 50-year legacy of helping to rebuild our forests, we aim to help our funeral home and crematory customers provide an eco-friendly memorialization option to families, via Remember Pages. The prices for our memorial tree selection is below:

  • Single Tree: $39

  • Grove of 3: $89 ($30/tree)

  • Grove of 5: $149 ($30/tree)

  • Grove of 10: $249 ($25/tree)

  • Grove of 25: $399 ($16/tree)

  • Grove of 50: $499 ($10/tree)

A) How Families Order Memorial Trees on Remember Pages

Here's how families and friends can order memorial trees on Remember Pages:

  1. Families and friends visit their loved one's Remember Page.

  2. Next to the flower button, there will be a new CTA button called 'Plant a Tree'.

  3. Families will choose a forest project (10 options currently) where they'd like memorial trees planted in honor of their loved ones.

  4. Once a purchase is made, a memory card for the contribution will be created on the Remember Page, and a PDF certificate will be emailed from planttrees@arborday.org, which the contributor can download.

B) How Orders Are Routed and Fulfilled

To check on memorial tree sales for a certain case, you can create a custom Remember Page report in Gather Analytics and filter by memorial tree orders only.

D) Who to Contact For Sympathy Flower Order Support

If your funeral home needs support with a particular flower order, please call Teleflora Support at (844) 592-0072 or email gathersupport@teleflora.com.

Families should call (800) 260-2241 and press Option 3 to get direct support from Teleflora with their order.

C) Marketing Resources For Your Business

If you need additional support with promoting memorial trees to your community, we've created two free downloadable resources: a brandable social media graphic, and two marketing email templates.

How Do Commission Payouts Work?

Each month, your business earns 15% of all flower and tree sales directly to your pockets if the cumulative commission exceeds $100. One commission check will be delivered to your location(s) each month, depending on the volume of orders (flowers and trees) on your Remember Pages.

The check will include the following codes, which you can use to reference the type of order or sale on your commission check:

  • FL = Flower

  • MT = Memorial Tree

If you have questions about your commission check or payout for a particular month, please email Gather Support at help@gather.app and we will be happy to review your inquiry for you.
