A family can request to have their services private or only visible to specific people. This event will not show on the public Remember page or your Gather Website. Specific steps must be followed for people to watch or access the private event.
Create the Event
From the Organize page, click on 'Schedule Services' to set the date, time, location, and name of the service. At the bottom of the popup window, you'll see the toggles for LiveStream and to make the event Invite Only. Select both of these options.
Two icons will show on the event's window. The play icon represents LiveStreaming, while the crossed-out eye indicates a Private Event.
NOTE: The Private Event is hidden on the Remember page. So how are viewers able to access and watch this private event? They need to be specifically invited to it. Sharing the Remember page URL will not give visitors access to this event.
Invite Viewers
For visitors to see this event and watch the LiveStream, they need to be invited to Gather and be signed in during the event. Hovering over the event will show this reminder:
The best way to invite the viewers to this private event is to encourage the family to complete the 'Invite Helpers' task.
Here's how that would look:
The funeral director invites a family member as Admin or Guest Helper.
The funeral director assigns them the 'Invite Helpers' task.
From the invite link, the family member creates their profile and password.
The family member clicks on the tasks. As prompted, they add the name and contact information to send invites to Guest Helpers.
(Optional: assigns ‘Upload Photos’ or ‘Build Photo Slideshow’ tasks)
From the invite link, the new Guest Helper creates their profile and password.
On the day of the service, the Guest Helper is signed in and has the Remember page open.
The Guest Helper can view the LiveStreamed event.
Pro Tip: A great feature about invited Helpers is that they can add memories and photos directly to the Remember page without moderation. Since a Case's Admin invited them, their photos and memories won't be moderated because they are trusted and given a direct invitation to the Remember page.
Made an event private by mistake?
