  • Always keep your camera battery plugged in and charging when not in use. This will ensure a full battery life for your next service, especially if one comes up last minute.

  • If switching to another WiFi network, if you can, only use a secured and password-protected login. If you use a Guest Network, it could get overloaded with users on it and cause connection issues with your live stream.

  • When using your Hot Spot make sure you have your Personal Hotspot and Bluetooth turned on under your phone's settings. If you still don't see your hotspot name to switch to under the Mevo app, you may need to call your cell phone provider to make sure your hotspot is active.

  • The "Optional Message to the Family" is a great way to address any technical issues that you may see your families running into. For example, you can remind them the event may be delayed past the actual start time due to technical difficulties and to stay tuned, how to unmute the video and configure their sound settings, how and when to re-watch the recorded version after the live event is complete, etc. This will be something that you will learn as you continue to create live streamed events and gather your own best practices with experience.

  • If you are adding the Obituary to the "Remember" page, make sure that once the obituary is added that you "Complete" the task under the task list of the "Organize" section of the case page. This will ensure it is added to the public on the "Remember" page.

  • When using "Flowers & Cards" section a lot of funeral homes have been creative in uploading other items to share with the public aside from flowers, gifts, and cards. You can upload more pictures of their loved ones, pictures of the service set up for the day of the event, and pictures of the actual services that took place.

  • When you share the direct link to the "Remember" page for the LiveStream there could be confusion that attendees need to have a login in order to view the event. Assure them that is not the case from the very beginning, and let them know the login is for the funeral home staff and immediate family who may have access to this case page to manage in Gather as well. All the viewers need to do is click on the event, and they will see the LiveStream and later the recorded version of the event as well.

  • If you are using the Mevo app to manage the camera view it's very important to note that you can't use the Record button in the app to stop and stop broadcast. This will not record to the SD card in the camera, and the video will be lost. You will only start and stop broadcasting in your Gather app.

  • When you are conducting an off-site event using your Hotspot you will need to use two different devices to be successful: one for the Hotspot connection and the other to manage Mevo app and Gather app. This is where your Gather tablet comes in handy. The best practice would be to use your phone for the Hotspot connection, and the tablet to manage Mevo and Gather apps.

  • If you are at an off-site service and your connection is spotty or completely lost, do not panic! Continue to record and stream with your Mevo camera. The worst case scenario is your live stream is interrupted or gone to the online public, however, once the service is done we can upload the recorded version from the SD card manually under your "Remember" page.

  • When starting and stopping your broadcast it's helpful that you do so with some time to spare in case of technical difficulties or anything else that may come up. For your first few events, we suggest starting the broadcast 15 minutes before the actual event and stopping the broadcast 15 minutes after the event is complete. This will ensure that nothing important gets cut off from the recording. Once you are comfortable with the process an easy 5-minute buffer will work perfectly going forward.

  • We also suggest that for your first few LiveStream events that you start the setup at least an hour before the scheduled event if possible. This way we can be there to assist if you run into technical or unforeseen difficulties.

  • It is crucial that you ensure the broadcast is stopped and the camera is turned off properly after the event is over. First, you must stop the broadcast in Gather, then click the power button once to stop recording, then press and hold the power button for a few seconds to turn off the camera. This is very important when you have back-to-back events, especially if they are for separate cases. This will ensure the recorded video is uploaded immediately for the family, and importantly ensure that the next event is displayed and broadcasted under the correct page URL.
